It’s about adding yet another introductory, superficial, lightweight piece of tripe onto a massive pile of the same. How many times do the suits that read these blogs oh I’m sorry I meant serious trade journals need to be introduced to this mystical enigma that is esports? How many times is the esports establishment going to subject themselves to these nonsense interviews in which they answer to, and thus legitimize, every last gamer nerd stereotype the interviewer was able to come up with after googling the scene for a few minutes?

MLG’s revenues are in the range of $20m. Right…and what do they spend to get it? Kinda important.

Is it too much to expect that a publication named ‘Business Insider’ might look into what the driving force behind MLG and the scene at large might be? For instance, maybe an indication from informed individuals that the fundamentals are actually sound…or hey, heh, turns out that there’s a lot of interest behind all this but it’s burning cash like it’s the only fuel on hand for a steamboat chugging upstream.

Would be nice to know.

Instead, the press at large seems to only be able to muster two different approaches to esports, neither of them serious. One is ‘Lol wtf is all this, then?’ The other is ‘esports is [stupid/worthless/not sports/never going to take off/never going to be mainstream (because that’s the only important thing)].’

I don’t think it’s too much to ask. If anybody needs to relax, it’s MLG on taking up these utterly useless interviews.
